The "Wiener Tramwaymuseum", the largest one of its kind in the whole world, shows the development of public transport in Vienna, from horse drawn streetcar and steam tramway up to modern tram of today. It was thanks to private initiative that these trams were saved from being scrapped and were revitalized by volunteers in extensive reconstruction work into their original condition. Every profit made with tramway oldtimer special tours is exclusively dedicated to the renovation, repair and service works. The "Wiener Tramwaymuseum" is located in the coach-house of Erdberg of the Vienna Public Transport ("Wiener Linien"), in the third district of Vienna, called "Wiener Straßenbahnmuseum",

Das Wiener Straßenbahnmuseum ist dem öffentlichen Stadtverkehr gewidmet und das größte Straßenbahnmuseum der Welt. Der Schwerpunkt der Sammlung des Verkehrsmuseums liegt in einer möglichst kompletten Dokumentation originaler historischer Straßenbahnfahrzeuge undAutobusse, die in Wien eingesetzt worden sind. Das Museum zählt zu den umfangreichsten Originalsammlungen weltweit.
